Countries and their History

XP is obsessed with Europe countries
and their history during the Victorian Period, WW1 and WW2.
She puts a map and a globe in her little corner,
draws signs and symbols only she knows on them.

Nikon Coolpix S5100

Some of you might wondered why my camera
has changed from S2600 to S5100.

That's because my sister-inlaw needed a camera
for her trip to Vietnam,
I showed her mine (S2600) and she loved it.
We just told her to take it and we will get another one for ourselves.

When in the shop, the guy recommended us S5100,
We thought it is better (can close-up more)
and is only RM40 more,
hence this camera.
(and it's RED !!!)

some changes

Lately there are some changes in our homeschool -
.
1. I made XP plan out her weekly schedule.
(she doesn't like it, but I think she needs to learn this)
.
2. We use videos almost everyday.
(XP learns better by watching videos, I downloaded documentaries from Youtube
and science/mathematic videos from Khan Academy)
.
3. Chores, music and art are as important as school.
(no excuses like "I am reading" when asked to do chores)
.
4. One notebooking page every school day.
(learns to jot down notes while reading or watching videos
and later put them into paragraphs)
.
5. Learn only ONE subject at a time.
(for example:
in one week we read the chapter on gases in The World of Chemistry,
watched videos The Discovery of Elements,
and did notebooking pages on Cavendish, Rutherford, Priestly and Berzelius;
the following week we did The Mycenaen Culture)

label your vegetable

My mom taught me to wrap veggie in a newspaper
and put it in a plastic bag,
this way the veggie will stay fresh for a longer period.
.
But I found it very annoying especially
when I forgot what I'd wrapped in those newspapers.
.
Lately I've figured out a way to do it:
.
Normally I re-use the plastic bags which come with the veggies.
.
.
First, put the veggie (here is my spring onion)
on the newspaper and wrap it..
.
Since the spring onion is long and soft,
after wrapping I just fold the paper
so that it can be fitted into a plastic bag..
.
In the plastic bag and....
notice the clothespin?
.
.
On the pin written in Chinese is "spring onion".
(I labelled the veggies in Chinese so that XP can expose to them more)
.
.
Now I know what I have in my fridge
and can easily find them without opening up all the wrappings.
