paperplane

We are moving on to "Sky" in our Sea & Sky Unit.
.
.
XP was busy folding paperplanes.

.
.
.
There are 20 different types of plane, here are some of them.

.
.
.
We use these 2 books,
one from WP and one from PayLessBooks.
The contents are almost the same,
but I prefer the one on the right which is written for children.
.
.
Since we have 2 books, that means we can share the planes.
.
.
.
.
Here is a video showing
XP and her homeschool friends test flied the paperplanes.

Intrepid Explorers

Today while reading Tools of Navigation
(chapter "The New Age of Exploration) to XP,
she interrupted me so many times with
"I know this man !!" or "I know I know what he did !!".
.
She was so excited and thrilled to know
who will be the next I mentioned,
so I have to finished the whole chapter
(20 pages and a lot of explanations, luckily is not a long chapter)
in a single day.
.
.
.
She got most of the informations from
the Horrible Geography book
by Anita Ganeri.

2 salty experiments

Created our own Dead Sea and made the dice in the glass float..
Salt water sinked to the bottom of fresh water,
Booboo proved it to us by drinking the water.

Living World Encyclopedia

Two years ago when doing Sonlight Core 2,
we used The Usborne Living World Encyclopedia for our science unit.
.
XP didn't like the book and
I thought this book is more for older children,
but anyway we finished it.

.

This year we are doing Winter Promise Adventures in the Sea & Sky.
Suddenly I thought of this book,
there are some parts in it which I can apply into our study.

And it turns out great!

the pirate ship

just before finished our Japan unit.
.
which I bought from MPH Subang Parade for RM 19.90,
a reasonable price.
.
The instructions are not very clear,
but still managable after figured it out myself.
.
The best part I like about this book is
we have to make all the ship's parts separately,
while making them we get to know the correct names for each.
.
We made 2 parts for our 1st session,
this is the BOW,
and this is the STERN and REAR DECK.
.
.
.
.
and this is a picture of a pirate ship XP taped on her table.

next year's books

I planned to use books from
next year.
.
XP couldn't wait to play with the pirate ship model.
.
.
.
Here are the history, science and activity books,
I replaced some and added extra.
.
.
And these are the readers I am going to use,
might add in more when it goes along.
